I just heard your music with my animation and… wow! It is really great!! This is exactly what I was hoping for! I had a huge smile on my face during the mirror scene, the music fits so well!! You managed to pass on the atmosphere and the feelings I am myself trying to set up with the animation!
Composer of the soundtrack for a short 2-min animation by wonderful artist/animator Pierre Watteyne in Belgium.
Pierre’s animation was so beautiful, warm and poignant – a joy to add music to. I played piano free-time (i.e. without metronome) along with it, and the theme from the mirror scene onwards worked very quickly. I then made the first half of the music feel more “youthful” by adding quicker more rhythmic lines for flute, oboe and bassoon – to then contrast with the slower poignant theme of the piano and cello at the mirror scene, then make it feel happy and hopeful again afterwards by bringing back flute, harp and clarinet for more movement.
